Slamdance filmfest honors Iran’s very short ‘Life’

The 2021 Slamdance Film Festival in the US awards Iranian short ‘Life’.

The 27th edition of the Slamdance Film Festival in the US has honored Iranian short flick ‘Life’.

Written and directed by Mohammad Mohammadian, the short film received the George Starks Spirit of Slamdance at the US event.

‘Life’ is an experimental very short film made in black and white.

The film’s duration is just four seconds to show that life is very short and time runs so fast.

Influenced by the late Iranian grandmaster Abbas Kiarostami, Mohammadian has worked as a director, screenwriter, film editor, film producer, photographer, and graphic designer.

He has so far directed six short films and documentaries, including ‘Agnes Varda’, ‘Only Five Minutes’, ‘Zaz: Mind Your Tongue’, and ‘The Endless River’.

Mohammadian’s ‘Life’ was also screened at the 17th edition of the accordi @ Disaccordi International Film Festival in Italy.

The annually-held Slamdance Film Festival provides a space for filmmakers, festival programmers and audience members to meet each other and to recognize the next generation of cinema talent.

The festival’s official website states, “The Slamdance Film Festival is a showcase for raw and innovative filmmaking that lives and bleeds by its mantra: By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers”.

The 27th edition of the event was held on February 12-25, 2021.
